Persona 4 Arena, a fighting game from the guys who brought us BlazBlue (which I fondly called Blazberry Blue), is actually quite fantastic! It’s a beautiful 2D fighter filled with the complexities you would expect from an Atlus RPG. It also has very easy combos, making you feel like a button-mashing god after only a few minutes of practice.
Remember when fighting games were “dead?” Seriously, there was almost nothing to satiate fans in the PS2/Xbox/GameCube days but gimmicky 3D things like Bloody Roar and occasional gems, like Guilty Gear. Now I can’t even keep up with all the releases. I think that Skull Girls game came out. It looked cool. I probably would have dug it back when the genre was starving for content. But now? I’m a little busy.
