I’m probably weird in that I prefer Toe Jam & Earl’s bizarre side-scrolling sequel to the original. There was just something about capturing people in tiny glass bottles. It probably tapped into the same part of my brain that loves capturing pocket monsters in balls.
But it’s hard not to notice Sega’s new desire to re-release every old game in its library digitally. I’m not saying I mind, especially when we’re getting bonafide classics, but I do wonder if it’s depressing to work at Sega these days, continuously working on ports while your current product becomes irrelevant.
