I’m really not much for politics, and I’m the first to admit I don’t really understand them, especially the notion that someone can “win” a debate. Isn’t the point of a debate to open discussion? Doesn’t everyone win simply by having agreeing to have one? Isn’t it up to the audience to decide who they agree with?
But no, the media will declare a winner based on how many “zingers” he can level at his opponent or by how “presidential” he looks or whatever. Hell, if we really want a winner, why don’t we just have them literally fight? We can give them medieval weapons and eat half chickens with our bare hands while we watch.
